Struts are very powerful compared to competitors. might even be able to get away with just one – even for this heavy hood – but I installed both. They are longer than competitor’s due to extended opening height option and end up closing over the battery close to the negative terminal but they do clear thanks to the hood bracket being set back. However, I did invest in a negative battery terminal cover just to be safe. Also, I did choose to mount lower brackets about an inch forward of the seamed area in a nice little notch on the fender as the bracket seemed to fit better there and I didn’t have to shave the seam seal off. Install was quick and easy and instructions were well illustrated but it took a bit to get my head around not needing to measure.
